Steps taken now to mitigate changes are not enough in order to stop the point where alternative fuels suddenly become much more attractive. We saw this already. Likewise, crude oil will only continue to be extracted so long as it is profitable. And that moment is near. If this super cycle won’t change directions it will be a global major problem. Now the drive for sustainability will likely seal crude oil’s fate. Consumers will soon face a choice to buy “green” goods and services or pay more. What would you think they would choose when they see wildfires, the thaw of permafrost, and the increase and intensity of storms, floods, droughts, and other climate-related natural disasters?
