Abbreviation is another method that advertising can often contain. It is a shortened form a word or phrase. It has subcategories. For instance, as “acronyms” which is pronounced as a word: AIDS which is acquired immune deficiency syndrome, as “initialism” which is pronounced as a group of letters: BBC which is British Broadcasting Corporation. “Neologisms” can be given another word method to create advertisement. It is possible to say that it is not a feature only for poets, but also journalists, copywriters. It can be considered an invention of a new words. In other words, it is like coinage. Generally advertisements consists of many coined words to be lively, easily remembered, and attractive and it represents creativity which is one of the essential thing for advertising. For example: “Give a Timex to all, to all a good time” It is a timex a brand name of a watch. Here, times is a coined noun. It is derived from two words “time” and “excellent”. This kind of word can be remembered easily by the readers or audiences. The word “Twogether” in the advertisement can be given as another example for coined noun. It comes from the word “together” and it can create a strong memory in the readers’ mind, also in the image of the readers two person being together can be easily pictured in their mind without any effort, and it puts advertising readers further into the ad. Therefore, this creativity sticks to readers’ minds and influences them.
